If this Comme des Garçons Shirt collection looks more straightforward than others in the past, chalk it up to a Lacoste collaboration that set loose a congregation of alligators across the clothes. Why Lacoste? Well, why not? Scaled up or downsized, printed or bisected by ginghams and collegiate stripes, reimagined in gold rather than forest green—the Shirt team had as many takes on the Lacoste mascot as Kawakubo has on the button-down.
Elsewhere, Lacoste polos and crewneck shirts were styled with black overalls, wide-legged jeans, or over-the-knee shorts, and the French label’s bright sportswear colors migrated onto sweaters, and, most impactfully, onto patch-worked colorblock button-downs. Tailored styles in felted wool—also colorblocked but in earthy, neutral tones—and tie-dye corduroy pieces added texture to this season’s lineup.
Diagonal or fringe-like plackets, zippered sleeves, patchwork, and paneling served as detailing on this season’s white button-downs. On the runway, these preceded a run of heather gray sweat shorts paired with a tonal zip-up hoodie, a cardigan, and a sweatshirt—it was a nod to the ubiquity of athleisure, perhaps, to close a Shirt lineup that leaned noticeably more into sportswear than the label has in recent seasons.
