The Welsh composer, 79, found himself at the centre of a social media conspiracy when online sleuths started to float the theory that Meghan Markle attended King Charles’ crowning ceremony last weekend in disguise, donning a hairpiece, giant glasses and thick moustache to escape notice.

Among the crowd of 2,200 at Westminster Abbey, one guest seated next to composer Andrew Lloyd Webber captivated watchers at home for looking seemingly out of place.
As armchair detectives tried to determine the identity of the individual, many Twitter users started to theorize that it might have been Prince Harry’s wife, the Duchess of Sussex, 41, who was disguising herself to attend the lavish spectacle.
“[Meghan], you’re not fooling us,” a royal fan captioned a screengrab from the broadcast that has been viewed more than 418,000 times and generated over 4,800 likes.
“Just wait until the polyjuice potion wears off,” a second user commented, referencing the transformation potion from the Harry Potter series.

“I don’t know much about #Coronation, but I do know this is Meghan Markle in disguise,” another viewer added.
“Meghan really should’ve picked a more convincing disguise,” swiped a fourth watcher.
As rumours swirled that the mystery guest might be a heavily made-up Markle, the man was identified as Jenkins, a multi-instrumentalist and composer whose music figured into the ceremony.
Hear’Say singer Myleene Klass took to TikTok to clear up any confusion, calling Jenkins “one of the greatest living composers around today.”
Now, Jenkins has taken to TikTok to address the conspiracy head-on.
“I understand there has been a lot of interest in me since I appeared at the coronation of King Charles III,” Jenkins said.

“I was there because I’d written some music, for the service really. I was quite surprised that some people thought I was Meghan Markle in disguise. Someone wrote I was there to steal the crown jewels,” he laughed. “I look this way all the time!”
Jenkins showed off the Knight’s Bachelor badge he wore inside Westminster Abbey and said that he’s had his bushy moustache since he was 18 years old.
“My mustache has been referred to in the Times as well, but I’ve had the mustache since I was 18 years old. It was very trendy then,” he said.
“So that’s me. Nothing sinister about it or surprising at all.”
Meghan was a no-show from the event after she stayed back in Los Angeles to celebrate Prince Archie’s May 6 birthday with a small group of friends.

“As much as Meghan appreciates the invite to the coronation, she wouldn’t miss her son’s birthday for the world,” a source told Us Weekly last month.
Harry left the ceremony immediately after it concluded and boarded a plane back to the U.S.
CNN reported that Harry did not did not receive an invite to join the Royal Family on the Buckingham Palace balcony following the Westminster service.
Harry played no formal role in the service and looked on while his brother William, the heir-to-the-throne, knelt down in front of his father to pledge his loyalty.
True Royalty TV editor-in-chief Nick Bullen told Us Weekly that Harry’s whirlwind appearance in London was “the beginning of the end of the Sussex’s interaction with the Royal Family.”
“It felt like Harry and Meghan were just sort of a sidebar to all of this,” Bullen said. “It felt like the family had sort of put a line in the ground and [said], ‘Right, we are moving forward.’”
