If you’ve ever been a fan of the charismatic and well-coiffed talk show host Conan O’Brien, and have lamented his departure from late night television after many years behind the interview desk, there will soon be a chance to relive some of the greatest moments in his extensive comedic career. Per a report from Deadline, Conan O’Brien is set to launch his own free streaming channel, courtesy of a deal he’s struck with Samsung TV Plus.
Conan’s debut of his very own channel that will put all of his spectacularly funny work on a well-deserved pedestal has truly been a long time coming. With his departure from both NBC and TBS after decades of remarkably crafted content, it seems only appropriate for his career to come full circle with a home all its own. Executive producer Jeff Ross said of the announcement:
“We are thrilled to expand the reach of the show in partnership with one of the best brands in the world…Samsung TV Plus is the ideal home for Conan’s first FAST channel, given the scale and credibility of the service within the FAST sector. It allows us to instantly share some of the best moments of the show with our loyal fans and to reach new ones.”
What to Expect From Conan’s New Channel
The new channel will be part of Samsung’s growing FAST streaming package available on the latest Samsung televisions, which features over 250 live channels and numerous movies and shows all free on demand. Conan’s new channel will reportedly be a 24/7 broadcast of his many years of nighttime talk show hosting, presumably all the way back to his earliest interviews in 1993 when his debut show Late Night With Conan O’Brien first aired on NBC, all the way up to his decade or so tenure on TBS with his newer talk show called simply Conan. Fans will get to relive many of the most memorable interviews from the past 30 plus years, from Tom Hanks to Will Ferrell, Justin Bieber, Gal Gadot, and countless others.
As well, some of the most iconic skits seen on late night talk shows will make their comeback, from his gut-busting outings with Jordan Schlansky, to off-site interviews conducted by the potty-mouthed puppet Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, televised parody interviews with notable figures like Bill Clinton and Arnold Schwarzenegger (courtesy of writer Robert Smigel’s comedic genius) and of course one of his most well-known bits ‘Conan Plays Old Timey Baseball’, which has him taking part in actual Civil War baseball. There are really too many to count, and all contributed incredibly to Conan’s legacy on late night television.
While a specific date is not indicated, Conan’s new channel is set to premiere on Samsung’s FAST streaming service next month.
