Conor Benn has opened the door to a fight with Chris Eubank Jr.
Eubank secured a dominant win over Liam Williams in Cardiff on Saturday night, flooring the Welshman four times en route to a career-best performance.
The victory took the Brighton fighter a step closer to a shot at the middleweight world title, with Gennady Golovkin in his sights.
13lbs separates Eubank and welterweight star Benn, but the latter is confident the two could meet in the middle, potentially following in the footsteps of their fathers who shared two epic encounters in the early 90s.
Last year, Eubank’s promoter Team Sauerland tweeted: ‘You know somewhere, some special night in the not too distant future Eubank v Benn the next generation will happen and we will be more than happy to make that happen.’
And after watching Eubank’s win over Williams, Benn tweeted: ‘I fancy my chances at a catchweight.’
Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Snr shared one of British boxing’s greatest ever rivalries, with the latter securing a knockout victory over the Londoner in 1990 to win the WBO title.
Three years later, the pair met again in Manchester, fighting out a thrilling draw.
The two have teased a potential trilogy bout over the years with Benn Snr cancelling a comeback fight in 2019 at 55.
His son Conor meanwhile enjoyed a sublime 2021 with the 25-year-old set to fight again in April, with a bout against Maurice Hooker or Robert Guerrero in the works.
