UFC 269 Porier vs Chandler preview
Jorge Masvidal has branded Conor McGregor a “little guy” in response to the Irishman demanding he be stripped of his BMF belt.
The 37-year-old was set to face a shot at British contender Edwards on the final UFC bill of the year headlined by Charles Oliveira’s clash with Dustin Poirier.
But he has been forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering an undisclosed injury during training camp.
And McGregor quickly took to social media to accuse Masvidal of deliberately “bottling” his welterweight showdown with Edwards.
McGregor wrote on Twitter : “It’s also Jorge Masvidal’s birthday but he is a b**** for bottling the fight against Leon. F*** your ‘injury’, you sign to fight, you fight.

“Strip that belt from him that he never even won. Hoe in a housecoat. The f*** was that about as well? Last season’s Versace house coat!”
And now Masvidal has quickly responded: “I guess you’re off your meds again barking up the wrong tree.
“And don’t be upset your client was about to be blessed with the biggest pay day of his life, and now you don’t get a dime from his whack a**. Too much man for you little guy, go back to fighting old dudes in bars.”
Masvidal currently holds the one-off “Bad Motherf*****” belt which against Nate Diaz and which McGregor has expressed interest in pursuing throughout his career.
The pair have frequently taunted each other which has raised hopes of a hotly-anticipated showdown being made.
But a fight has never materialised despite their frequent exchanges with Masvidal last mocking McGregor for his altercation with musician Machine Gun Kelly at the VMAs.
McGregor is currently pursuing an unlikely lightweight world title shot after suffering back-to-back defeats against Poirier.
Masvidal, meanwhile, could now be held back in his bid to return to the pinnacle of the welterweight division, with Edwards instead focused on cashing in his opportunity to face title holder Kamaru Usman.

McGregor has only fought at welterweight three times during his career including a defeat to Nate Diaz which he later avenged in a second bout.
The 33-year-old has been called to return to 170lbs and complete a trilogy with Diaz which could be another viable option for his UFC return.
But UFC analyst Chael Sonnen believes that McGregor should target a meeting with retired star Paul Felder before returning to face other leading contenders at 155lbs.
“There is other matches that you could do where all of a sudden you can make up some ground with Conor,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel. “Man, I’ll throw a name at you. Paul Felder.
“Paul Felder is retired. If Paul Felder came back for Conor McGregor he would lock down into an eight-week training the same as Conor’s going to do.
“It is going to be even. And they’re gonna go out and have a match, together that makes a lot of sense.”
