Conor McGregor urged Ryan Garcia to take a rematch against Gervonta Davis following his KO defeat on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old suffered the first defeat of his professional career after he was dropped in the second round and then failed to get up from Davis’ body shot in the seventh.

McGregor attended the fight in Las Vegas and consoled Garcia in his dressing room following his loss to Tank.

‘He’s 1-0 on you. Yous are the two biggest names in the division,’ McGregor told Garcia.

‘I want to see it again. I want to see it again now, and I want to see it with no rehydration clause.

‘Mate, all the respect in the world to you. You’re the future. You’re the future of this game. I’m watching you all the way. Wish you all the best.’

Speaking after the fight, Garcia dismissed suggestions that the rehydration clause, which prevented him and Davis from weighing more than 10lbs over the catchweight limit of 136lbs on the morning of the fight, had an impact on his performance.

‘From an honest perception of it I didn’t feel too good,’ Garcia said.

‘I mean, I felt a little weak going into the ring, my legs didn’t feel too much under me.

‘But once the fight got going it kind of all came together, so I can’t really pin that too much. It is what it is, I signed the contract and that’s that.’

Garcia also revealed his intent to move up to 140lbs after losing to Davis.

‘I’m going to 140,’ said Garcia.

‘This fight is not going to deter me too much from my dreams.

‘I got in there with one of the best, we fought. I did what I had to do to get in the ring but I’ll feel much stronger at 140.

‘I’ll go up and fight the top fighters at 140.’
