Conor McGregor makes bold prediction about Ian Garry after KO win at UFC 285

Conor McGregor has predicted Ian Garry will become a champion following his come-from-behind win at UFC 285.

‘The Future’ made it four consecutive wins since becoming a UFC fighter at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night but he didn’t have things all his own way against Song Kenan.

Garry suffered a heavy knockdown early on but quickly bounced back and took over the fight before forcing the stoppage in the final moments of round three.

The 25-year-old celebrated improving his perfect MMA record to 11-0 by doing Conor McGregor’s signature billionaire strut before calling for a fight at UFC 287 card in Miami on April 8.

‘Notorious’ tweeted in the immediate aftermath of his countryman’s win: “Ian Garry you little DAISY!”

As footage of the former Cage Warriors welterweight champion doing McGregor’s famous post-fight celebration went viral, the UFC superstar returned to social media to share his thoughts about Garry’s future in the sport.

He added: “I see a Champion!”

‘Notorious’ is set to return from his long injury layoff later this year when he takes in Michael Chandler in his first fight since suffering a nasty leg injury against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

Ahead of UFC 285, Garry revealed he is excited by the prospect of sharing a card with his idol and insisted the MMA’s premier promotion will definitely make his dream come true.

He told talkSPORT: “Putting me and Conor on the same card is just obvious.

“You’ve got the biggest star the sport has ever seen coming back against somebody who is equally as loved by the fans in Chandler.

“It would be a massive, massive platform for me to go out there and put somebody to sleep and just keep proving what I already know to the fans.”

At some point, he hopes to bring the UFC to Ireland for an event for the first time since ‘Mystic Mac’ knocked out Diego Brandao at the 3Arena in July 2014.

Garry added: “I’m going to bring the UFC back to Dublin. I’ll do that! Don’t worry, that’s happening. I’ll bring them back at the end of this year or the start of next. They are coming back!”
