Conor McGregor responds to Charles Oliveira callout at UFC 274

Conor McGregor reacts to Charles Oliveira defeating Justin Gaethje in the UFC 274 main event

Surprise, surpise. “The king” is back (on Twitter).

Charles Oliveira issued a callout to Conor McGregor following his win over Justin Gaethje in the UFC 274 main event.

The bout had been scheduled to be for the lightweight title, but Oliveira vacated the title after missing weight. Oliveira submitted Gaethje in the first round, meaning the strap remains vacant.

Following the bout, Oliveira issued a callout to McGregor to face him for the vacant title in his next bout.

A little while later, McGregor responded to the callout via social media.

I’m not sure I wish to cut the weight. I am really enjoying being built like a refrigerator. I feel I want to fight at this size just to watch it back lol. But I’d love to fight the Brazilian, 100%! I love Brazil and I’m unbeaten against Brazil. All KO’s. I’ve some thinking to do

McGregor hasn’t won a lightweight bout since defeating Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 205 in November 2016. He’s 1-3 since, most recently losing a pair of fights to Dustin Poirier in 2021.

Oliveira is not the only one to call out McGregor on this night. Michael Chandler also issued a passionate callout to McGregor, claiming to want him if not granted a rematch with Oliveira in the upcoming vacant title fight.

Chandler and Oliveira had a fight for the then-vacant lightweight title at UFC 262 almost exactly one year ago, with Oliveira coming from behind to score a second-round finish.
