Conor McGregor has delivered his support to John Gotti III after the latter’s chaotic brawl with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Gotti, the grandson of the infamous New York mob boss by the same name, shared the ring with the legendary former world champion in an exhibition bout in Florida on Sunday on a night that ended in bedlam.

Midway through the sixth round, referee Kenny Bayless brought the contest to a halt, unhappy with the level of trash-talking being exchanged by the two fighters.

Gotti III continued to throw punches after the referee’s decision, prompting members of both teams to swarm the ring.

Scuffles broke out in the ring and continued backstage with Gotti III firing a warning to his rival after the dust had settled.

‘Punk b***h Floyd Mayweather. You my enemy for life,’ Gotti posted on Instagram before tagging former two-weight UFC champion McGregor with the message: ‘We need back-up.’

In a now deleted tweet, McGregor responded, seemingly picking his side in the brewing battle.

‘I back the Gotti’s. The war is on,’ the Dubliner wrote.

McGregor has his own history with Mayweather with the two meeting in the boxing ring in 2017.

Mayweather eased to a 10th round stoppage victory, extending his professional record to 50-0 in the process.

The five-weight world champion has fought in a number of lucrative exhibition bouts in recent years, including meetings against YouTuber Logan Paul and Geordie Shore star-turned-MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers.

McGregor meanwhile is expected to make hit return to the Octagon later this year against Michael Chandler having not fought since breaking his leg in his trilogy defeat to Dustin Poirier in 2021.
