Jake Paul gives his take on Tommy Fury’s next fight

Conor McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis has called for an “easy money” fight against Jake Paul with the YouTube star planning to return in August.

Paul is preparing for his sixth professional fight having not fought since his brutal stoppage victory over Tyron Woodley last December. Paul and Danis have called each other out before after Paul’s water drive-by attack escalated their rivalry.

Danis has responded to Paul’s tweet regarding the potential opponent for a fight in August, writing: “Easy money”. Danis was set to fight Paul at the back end of 2020 but the deal collapsed with Danis’ later claiming he was carrying an injury.

The teammate of UFC superstar Conor McGregor has been sidelined from MMA after complications with a knee surgery left him with no option but to take time away from competition. Danis made several attempts to meet Paul in the ring but has ultimately failed to secure a meeting having been struggling with injury since defeating Max Humphrey for Bellator.

Bellator president Scott Coker has previously suggested Danis could finally make his comeback this year in a third fight with the promotion. Paul has also been in talks over a potential MMA debut with Bellator seen as a potential destination for the YouTube star should he opt to step in the cage.

Danis previously vowed to retire if he was knocked out by Paul in a potential fight, despite the 5-0 fighter now dismissing a meeting between the pair. However Danis’ close-friend Peter Queally has claimed the bout was close being agreement before Danis’ injury woes ruled him out.

“He’s open to boxing if the right fight comes along,” Queally said. “If the right kind of marquee boxing match came along, like this Jake Paul fight which was a possibility for a while. Maybe it’s not now because Jake has gone on and won a lot of big fights since then and maybe he’s looking for something else.

“But that was a real possibility for a while, that was more or less done him and Dillon so I could see a fight like that happening. “I hope he’ll fight next year, he just had surgery I think in July and that was his second one. He had to go back and do a second one and he’s recovering from that, it’s quite a serious surgery. He needs to recover from that and then I could see him fighting next year – I would bet on MMA.”
