Shania Twain is still the one for us, having captured hearts all over again in her debut on ITV’s Starstruck.
The country music icon joined Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight, and Jason Manford on the panel, replacing Sheridan Smith in series 2.
Hosted by Olly Murs, the Stars In Their Eyes-esque transformation show invites everyday people to become their idols for one night only, getting glammed up and belting out one of their classic tunes.
Episode one of the show’s second outing saw groups perform as Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Sir Tom Jones, and Chaka Khan, but it was team Sam Smith who were victorious and made it through to the upcoming final.
Unsurprisingly, Shania was a real hit with viewers in her first time as a judge, with audiences at home praising her for bringing the party to Saturday night TV.
‘Shania on #starstruck my heart is happy’, one fan tweeted.
‘Lovely to see my amazing queen @ShaniaTwain on #starstruck’, wrote another.
Another praised: ‘I don’t understand how this lady hasn’t been a judge on more talent shows? She’s one of the best singers in the world.’
After watching the Giddy Up! hitmaker clapping her way through the show, screaming with excitement and giving contestants a standing ovation, another Twitter user penned: ‘@ShaniaTwain is living her best life on #Starstruck and I love to see it!’
However, some were concerned that Shania might be left wondering what she’s signed up to as the episodes go on, given the whacky nature of the programme and how, really, anything goes.
‘Shania Twain has no idea what is going on here & neither do I’, tweeted one bewildered viewer.
‘I wonder if one of the teams will do shania Twain and they all look nothing like her but she still has to compliment’, asked another.
Shania has once again proven herself Queen of the UK’s hearts over recent weeks, having landed another number one album with her latest release, Queen Of Me.
Showing us she’s still got it, the Man! I Feel Like A Woman songstress topped the charts for a third time, following a close race with singer-songwriter Raye’s debut album My 21st Century Blues.
With Queen Of Me being the 57-year-old’s sixth studio album, the achievement allowed her to further cement her status as one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
‘I hope you love the album and that it cheers you up; that’s the idea. It’s my happy album. I look forward to seeing you all out on tour. Thank you,’ she said of her success.
