The leapfrog sex position, a variation on doggy style, got its name because it looks like the position one assumes when playing a game of leapfrog (yes, the one you played as a kid), according to whoever named it. (Sorry you are lost to history, oh, Sex Position Namer of Yore!) The best reason to assume this position, besides the potential of busting out a game of leapfrog if need be, is that it gives you both delightful new angles of penetration, it’s more stable than doggy, and it’s easy to tweak it to your heart’s desire.
It’s not hard to do and you might even already be doing it. (Not like, this exact second…more like in your life in general.) “The leapfrog position is actually a lot of people’s preferred sex position over doggy. In fact, many don’t even know that it has a different name!” says sex writer Rachel Worthington, educator and sex toy reviewer at Bedbible.com. How do you know if you’re already doing it, you ask? Are you on all fours, like in doggy, but with your head resting on your hands and/or a pillow? That’s it—look at you go!
Leapfrog really needs no improvement, but if you want to make it extra extra good, try some of these tips
Get your clit involved.
Adding clit stimulation is pretty much a must in any position, and luckily, this position makes it easy. You or—ahem!—your partner can rub your clit or vulva with a lubey hand or you can have a toy do the job. “It’s the perfect position for keeping your arms free to hold a clitoral vibrator and get that extra oomph,” Worthington says.
Kink it up.
You can incorporate light bondage (see the submissive frog, below) or experiment with light spanking or sensation play. “If you’re the giver, your partner’s ass will be on full view, so take advantage of that—use your fingernails to lightly graze the skin and alternate with tracing your fingertips and gentle spanks,” suggests dominatrix Ruby Payne, sex expert at adult toy retailer UberKinky.
Move around to find the best angle.
“Raise or lower your hips to create different angles of entry. Try a little wriggle to see which feels better and which makes your partner gasp more,” Payne says. You also can press your legs together for a tighter feel and/or reach behind to stroke your partner’s balls or vulva, she says.
If you’re ready to get down, froggy style, here are some positions.
