Controversial influencer accused of choking British woman unconscious

A woman in Britain alleged that controversial social-media influencer and former kick-boxer Andrew Tate choked her unconscious while having sex.

The woman said that she first met Tate at a bar in Luton, England, in August 2014 before he became an influencer. The woman, who was 20 years old at the time, said he was working as a doorman and she was a student. She said they had consensual sex at her residence.

They met up again at her home in late 2014, she added, and alleged that the second consensual sexual encounter became violent.

Tate “put his hand on my throat and strangled me,” Evie, not her real name, told the BBC.

When Evie woke up, she said “it was a bit confusing at first” and noticed Tate was still having sex with her.

“I didn’t consent to it,” she said.

Evie said she didn’t report the alleged incident to the police at the time because she didn’t realize she was a victim of a sexual assault.

“I think I knew what had happened, I didn’t consent to. But I didn’t see it as rape or sexual assault because this was 10 years ago.”

After the incident, Evie said, Tate began to verbally threaten her until he left her home.

“He kept saying, ‘I own you, you belong to me,’” she said. “All throughout the night, he was being fairly aggressive and saying horrible things.”

The next day, she said, the white part of one of her eyes had turned red.

Evie is joining three other British woman in a planned civil lawsuit against Tate.

A spokesperson for Tate said he “vehemently denies” the allegations and said all sexual acts he had with women were consensual.

Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested in Romania in December 2022 following allegations that included human trafficking, rape and sexual exploitation. They were then put under house arrest, but no charges have been filed against them.
