Conversation flowed but is a second date on the cards?

Conversation flowed but is a second date on the cards?

Chrissie, 35 says:

I was a little nervous going in. I sat at the bar and waited for my date. I happened to notice someone else waiting at the bar and I just had a feeling it was him, so I asked “any chance you’re here to meet another stranger?” and he was.

My first impression of Jim was that he seemed very friendly and easy going.

We sat down and ended up ordering the set menu which was really nice because we didn’t have to think about anything, we could just relax and enjoy each other’s company. He was really great and easy to talk to; conversation flowed well. We shared stories and had a great laugh.

I’ve been single for a while. I find it’s pretty hard to meet people my age. Often I am going out as the third or fifth wheel because everyone else is in a relationship.

It was nice to take the pressure out of organising the date and getting the opportunity to meet someone new, who I might not have met otherwise, through a blind date.

We spoke about anything and everything, really. Work, our backgrounds, travel etc. He is working in hospitality and I have done so in the past so we were able to swap stories and relate on that. We had quite a bit in common. We both love getting out and about and don’t seem to sit still. We are similar travellers; we’re more interested in getting out of the hotel and going on adventures than lying by the pool.

We ended up staying at the restaurant for quite a while, then he took me to a bar around the corner. We were having a nice time chatting about lots of random stuff then I realised how late it was. I had work the next day so we ended up calling it a night. He walked me to my Uber and we exchanged numbers.

I’d definitely like to catch up with him again so I will send him a message and see if he feels the same. It was a good date. There were no awkward silences and conversation was great.

James, 40, says:

I was actually meant to go on a blind date a few years ago; we were supposed to go axe-throwing. The night before, while moving a table at work, I slipped a disc in my back so sadly I missed out on my blind date. Fast forward, I was scrolling on Facebook one afternoon and saw an article pop up. I thought I should apply and see what happens; the rest is history.

I arrived very early for my date after I misread the start time. Slightly panicked I had been stood up, I checked and realised I was about 45 minutes ahead of schedule. Funny enough, both Chrissie and I were standing at the bar before we realised we were there for each other. Chrissie seemed really nice and bubbly she was instantly very easy to get along with.

We chatted about growing up in Perth, travel, our shared experiences working in hospitality, what we get up to outside of work etc. I would say we had quite a bit in common.

We are both big fans of AFL as well – she goes for Fremantle and I go for Geelong but I won’t hold that against her. We were at the restaurant for a good couple of hours. Food kept coming, conversation was flowing, no awkward silences at all.

I’d describe Chrissie as down to earth, fun and easygoing. From the first moment at the bar we were able to converse nonstop.

Once we finished up at the restaurant we decided to head around the corner to another bar and keep chatting for another hour.

We exchanged numbers at the end of the date. I’d like to see her again – I will message her soon and thank her for a great night and see how she feels about a second date.
