In an 18-month killing spree, the artistically-minded San Francisco serial killer cops dubbed “The Doodler” terrorized the city.

And nearly 45 years later, pieces continue to fall into place in the investigation into the unsolved homicides.

On Thursday, detectives announced they have identified another victim of the mysterious killer.

William Andrews, 52 at the time, was brutally attacked April 27, 1975, in Golden Gate Park and died several weeks later in hospital without ever waking up, San Francisco police said, confirming he was a victim of The Doodler.

According to cops, the killer would meet his victims — all gay white males — in local watering holes and convince them to meet him in a park where he would sketch them. When the drawing was finished, the killer would stab them to death.

The murders occurred between January 1974 and June 1975.

“The location, the time period, the victimology — it all makes me think that it might be connected,” Det. Dan Cunningham told the San Francisco Chronicle. “I’d be a fool not to consider him as a Doodler victim.”

We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

Investigators identified a suspect as far back as 1976 but couldn’t compile enough concrete evidence to seal the deal. While police released a sketch of their suspected killer, they have never identified him.

“(But he remains) the focus of our investigation in 2022,” police said in a news release.

For years, detectives didn’t connect Andrews murder to The Doodler because he was found dead on a beach and hadn’t been stabbed to death. An investigation by the Chronicle changed cops’ minds.

Now, police believe the killer tried to stab Andrews to death but he fought back and ended up being beaten to death with a rock and a tree branch.

The San Francisco Police Dept. has now doubled the reward in the case — first offered in 2019 — from $100,000 to $200,000.
