Coronation Street’s Elaine Jones (played by Paula Wilcox) is in for a shock in upcoming scenes when she realises her fiance Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) is a liar.
Official spoilers for the ITV soap reveal the pair are set to go on a hiking trip, as he realises he could kill her in the Peak District and blame her death on a fall.
Excited at the romantic getaway and unaware of his sinister intentions, Elaine starts to pack for their trip but things take a turn when she spots a family photograph with Stephen and a mystery woman.
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other media publications, soap star Paula Wilcox shared the moment Elaine realises Stephen’s not all who he’s made out to be.
She said: “Elaine realises that a few days before, she’d seen this woman’s face on Stephen’s computer because he was on a Zoom call with this woman.
“He quickly finishes the call and says, ‘Oh the woman was a business associate, I’ll pick up the conversation later.’
“But Elaine did get a good look at this woman and seeing the photo of Gabrielle, she realises it’s the same woman.”
The Coronation Street star details it’s in that moment, the penny drops for Elaine that her fiance is a liar.
Paula added: “I think that’s really frightening, it’s like all the things that Tim has said and all the confusion that she’s felt, especially recently
“Now that’s proof positive that he’s a liar and a cheat. He does it so well, her reaction is horror, shock and deep deep sadness.
“Real shock, so she really goes into a tailspin at that point and I think from then on, she really sees the light and it’s really a moment.”
In upcoming scenes, Elaine heads off to reveal everything to her son Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) who has had suspicions of him for a while now.
Prying open a metal box that Stephen keeps documents in, they’re both shocked and disgusted when they find forged life insurance documents.
Enraged, Tim heads over to confront Stephen as he tells him they know everything and threatens to call the police.
However, as the last few people who’ve threatened Stephen have ended up dead, could Tim be next on his kill list?
Paula revealed Elaine starts to grow concerned when her son doesn’t return after quite some time and is left fearing for his welfare.
The soap star said: “She still doesn’t know that he might have murdered anybody, but she does know what he gets like- well she doesn’t really, she’s seen flashes of it.
“I don’t think she’s ever seen that side of him (anger), she’s not aware that he’s a particularly violent man.
