Coronation Street star Dolly-Rose Campbell admits she didn’t think she’d still be part of the ITV soap nearly 10 years after making her debut.
Fans of the show will know Gemma for her distinctive looks, no-nonsense attitude and deep love for her twin brother Paul (Peter Ash)
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other media publications, the 36-year-old touched on her long-running stint on the show.
When asked if she ever imagined being part of Coronation Street for so long, she replied: “No, I didn’t think I would still be here.
“Obviously, when I started, I only started for six episodes.
“It was a storyline to extract Kylie Turner (Paula Lane)from the show while Paul then went to have a baby.
“It was really just a six-episode little story really for that. So to still be here all this time later, it’s great.

“I’m very lucky to still be here and still be having lots of fun storylines to do.”
In recent months, fans watched as Gemma learnt about her brother’s MND diagnosis.
Although Paul was adamant to keep his health condition a secret from his family and friends, the truth came out at Gemma’s wedding to Chesney Brown (Sam Aston).
Getting tearful during his speech, Paul ran out of the room where Gemma followed and demanded answers.
Bursting into tears, her brother confessed he was dying, just as their mum Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) entered the room.
Touching on how Gemma will handle the situation, the soap star admits it’s going to be hard.
She added: “Paul’s been there her whole life, they’re not just brother and sister, they’re twins.
“So they’ve been together their whole lives. I think her approach would be to stay strong.
“You know they are a bit of an out-there family, but at the heart, they do love each other.
“They stick together and they want what’s best for each other. So I’m sure they will look after him in their own way absolutely.”
Not only has Gemma got to deal with Paul’s health, but she’s also been struggling financially and has decided to take up babysitting to get some extra cash.
In upcoming scenes, Gemma is looking after Daniel Osbourne’s (Rob Mallard) son Bertie, before her mum pops around to watch him for an hour while she goes to the cafe.
Although when Beth Tinker (Lisa George) lays into her for slacking, Gemma runs home in tears and briefly closes her eyes.
However, as she falls asleep Bertie empties her bag and finds the antidepressants.
As Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) and Daniel go to pick him up, they’re horrified to discover Bertie has eaten the tablets.
Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
