Coronation Street’s Amy Barlow makes tough decision ahead of Aaron lawsuit

0

Amy Barlow (played by Elle Mulvany) has been struggling to get back to her day-to-day life after her ordeal with Aaron Sandford (James Craven) in Coronation Street.

Since the rape, Amy has been unable to go back to university or feel comfortable when walking through the streets.

To make matters worse Aaron and his father Eric Sandford (Craig Cheetham) have launched a lawsuit against Amy for libel of Aaron’s name and character.

In upcoming scenes, Amy tells Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) that she intends to start afresh and focus on uni.

But when her tutor tells her she’s got to repeat the whole year due to her low grades, Amy reveals she’s thinking of dropping out.

After hearing the news from Amy, Summer tries to cheer Amy up and points out that by re-doing the year they’ll be starting together.

Knowing there would be someone there to make her year easier, will Amy agree to start the year fresh?

Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) tells Amy she knows what she’s going through as she was raped too.

After the pair bond and spend time sharing their feelings, Toyah recommends a counsellor, urging Amy to book an appointment.

Will she make the jump to get professional help?

To make matters worse Tracy McDonald (Kate Ford) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) need to find a way to come up with the money in case they lose the lawsuit.

Tracy begins to think about selling the florist as a contingency plan but will leave Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Summer homeless.

While Amy takes part in a meeting with Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), who is busy going through the details of the libel case, Summer tears a strip off Aaron.

She points out that because of his failure to admit the truth, Amy and her family are risking everything.

With Amy’s emotions all over the place, will she continue to go through with the plan, knowing what lies ahead and who will be impacted as a result?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
