From early in the morning, cameras were pointed at Westminster Abbey and the surrounding areas in London as guests awaited the arrival of the Royal Family and King Charles III.
The history-making moment has reeled in worldwide viewers, and many are offering their opinions online as the live footage continues.
One pattern already noticed by some is how many of the guests seemed to be visibly chewing gum as they took their seats, which has sparked a backlash.
Many couldn’t help but comment on the lack of “manners” some had displayed as they clearly munched on chewing gum.
Some asked “What’s the deal?” as they picked up on the noticeable behaviour.
While the main event was due to kick off shortly after 10am, thousands had gathered in central London, many of whom had secured their vantage points days before.
Those invited to watch in the Abbey also made their entrances hours before, with some famous faces spotted amongst the arriving crowds.
While viewers enjoyed pointing out celebrities they had spied on, others soon criticised some of the guests’ behaviour.
Twitter user @msmisrule penned: “It might be the teacher librarian in me but all I can see is people chewing gum all over the place.
@saline remarked: “Tuned into #Coronation to see a Commonwealth dignitary entering the Abbey chewing GUM! I wonder where he’ll stick it.”
@fonte1969 demanded: “Stop Chewing #Coronation.”
The King and Queen consort are set to be joined by 200 members of the armed forces as well as the remaining royals.
King Charles began to walk into the Abbey at 11am and was followed by the Prince and Princess of Wales.
