Former Corrie star Brooke Vincent has told of her ‘heartbreak’ during a shopping trip with her young child.

The actress, best known for playing Sophie Webster in the ITV soap, was out and about with Mexx, two, as she prepares to start potty training.

The actress and her son went out on a trip to get some “big boy underpants” on Tuesday, as the mum-of-two prepares her toddler for the next step.

However, the star was left feeling deflated after her shopping trip.

Posting a snap of herself and her eldest child in the shopping centre, Brooke, 29, retold the tale to her 941,000 followers on Instagram.

“Today we went to get Mexxs big boy underpants!!” the star began her caption.

“I made a huge fuss on the isle explaining these are what big boys wear!”

She continued: “After we finished choosing a couple of ‘bigger’ boys walked past, I then watched Mexx notice them and take his new [big] pants out of the basket and hold them in the boys eye line.

They just carried on walking past none the wiser!!”

The star added: “My heart broke twice over at that moment! I even contemplated giving the boys £1 each to walk back past and make a fuss.

Let’s the potty training games begin.. any advice welcome.”

Footballer Kean Bryan, Brooke’s partner and dad to her two kids, managed to see the funny side of things.

The West Brom player left a couple of crying-with-laughter face emojis underneath his other half’s Instagram update.

Luckily Brooke’s former co-star Shobna Gulati was on hand with some sage advice for the mum-of-two.

The Sunita Alahan actress advised her one-time Corrie pal: “Potty training … well if I remember it’s two steps forward one back but it eventually happens …. I think boys take a bit more time and lots of patience from you but that’s my experience … then suddenly its all fine!!”

Brooke and her footballer beau welcomed their first son into the world November 2019, naming him Mexx S J Bryan.

Just two months before she was due to return to the set of Coronation Street, the star announced her second pregnancy – with son Monrie S J Bryan being born on 4 May 2021.

Speaking with The Mirror in June this year, Brooke revealed she had a “scary out of body experience” while giving birth to her second child.

“It was more of an out-of-body experience,” she said of the gruelling birth.

“You’re so tired and out of it. I knew something was going on but I also knew I was in the best place and the staff were amazing.

With Mexx we both cried, but I think with Monroe we were in a bit of shock.”

she added: “Giving birth is a really hard and daunting experience, but it’s also beautiful. When I’m in a situation like that where I’m a bit scared, Kean is really good with me.”
