There are plenty of holiday options including destinations with no need for a Covid test

Brits looking to book holidays have plenty of options, with a number of countries open to UK holidaymakers including Greece, Portugal and Cyprus.

Travel restrictions do continue, and for the majority of destinations you’ll need to take Covid tests such as PCR or antigen tests before you travel.

However, if you’re fully vaccinated against Covid there are some destinations that will welcome you for holidays without a need to take a pre-departure Covid test such as the likes of Spain, Turkey, Mexico, Costa Rica and Switzerland.

For those who are partially vaccinated or unvaccinated, Mexico and Costa Rica are the only options if you don’t want to take a Covid test but want to go abroad.

So, if you are fully vaccinated, where can you go on holiday without tests? We take a look at your options below – and we’ve also included the rules if you’re travelling with unvaccinated children.

Turkey

Double jabbed Brits can enjoy Turkey holidays with no need to have a Covid test or to quarantine. You will need to fill out an online form within 72 hours before departure (this applies to all travellers aged six and over). Turkish authorities are carrying out random PCR testing at airports though, so bear this in mind if you’re planning a trip.

Children aged 11 and under can follow the rules for fully vaccinated travellers to enter Turkey.

Spain

Fully vaccinated UK arrivals don’t need to take a test or quarantine to visit Spain.

You’ll need to have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days before arrival. Children under the age of 12 do not need to show proof of being fully vaccinated on entry to Spain.

All UK travellers will also need to fill out a pre-travel form and obtain a QR code to show at border control.

Mexico

Mexico is open to all UK travellers with no requirement to take a Covid test or quarantine.

However, it is mandatory to register on the Mexico Vuela Seguro Platform before boarding your flight to Mexico, and to show the QR code upon arrival at the airport.

There are no Covid test or quarantine requirements in Costa Rica at the time of writing, although you will need to fill out an online Health pass within 72 hours before arrival.

Fully vaccinated Brits who received their final dose at least 14 days before travel can visit Costa Rica without having to buy mandatory insurance. This also applies to visitors aged under 18.

Germany

UK travellers can enter Germany for any travel purpose if they are fully vaccinated. Anyone aged six or over needs to be able to show either proof of vaccination, proof of recovery from Covid, or proof of a negative test, so unvaccinated children can visit but will need a test.

Dominican Republic

You don’t need a PCR test to enter the Dominican Republic provided you can show proof of full Covid vaccination, with proof that a final dose was administered no fewer than three weeks before your arrival.

Switzerland

From January 22, fully vaccinated travellers will no longer be required to take a pre-travel Covid test in order to visit Switzerland. Currently, double jabbed travellers can visit the country for non-essential reasons.

Unvaccinated children under the age of 18 can enter if they are accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult.

Czech Republic

Fully vaccinated Brits can enter the Czech Republic for holidays. If you’ve had your booster jab, you won’t need to show a negative PCR test result.

If you’re fully vaccinated with two doses but haven’t yet had your booster, then you will be required to show a negative PCR test result.

You’ll also need to fill out a pre-departure Passenger Locator Form.

Children aged 12 or under are exempt from testing and do not need to self-isolate if they are travelling with their fully vaccinated parents.

Montenegro

You can visit Montenegro if you have been fully vaccinated against Covid – if your vaccination was more than six months ago, you’ll need to have proof of a booster dose.

You can also visit without taking a test if you can show proof of recovery from Covid between 10-180 days.

Anyone else needs to show proof of a negative Covid test to enter – a PCR within 72 hours of travel, or an antigen within 48 hours.

Children under the age of 18 do not require a test or proof of vaccination.
