A hamstring injury has ruled Reuben Cotter out of North Queensland’s NRL clash with Manly on Friday, plunging his hopes of a State of Origin II call-up in doubt.
Cotter pulled out of the warm-up at Brookvale Oval after clutching at his hamstring.
The 23-year-old walked straight down the tunnel and was replaced in the Cowboys’ game day 17 by utility back Brendan Elliott.
Cotter was a standout in his Origin debut in game one and was considered a certain starter for the Maroons in Perth.
The lock will be sent for scans when the Cowboys return to Townsville on Saturday afternoon.
