The first details of the Eurovision 2023 performances are starting to be revealed… and you’d better strap your seat belts tight.

In less than two weeks, Europe’s most exciting, eccentric and outlandish singing competition arrives in the UK, with acts from around the world showcasing their talents in the city of Liverpool.

On Sunday April 30, the first rehearsal for the first semi-final took place at Liverpool Arena, with live updates filing in online to give future spectators a taste of what they can expect when the contest begins.

Croatia’s act is a group called Let 3, who won their country’s national selection competition with the song Mama ŠČ! to secure their place at Eurovision.

A liveblog on the website for the competition revealed that during the first rehearsal for the first semi-final, Let 3 kicked off ‘with their trademark extravagant costumes, mind-bending graphics and high fashion hat/dress combos’.

However, the show-stopping moment came during the final chorus, when they ‘all strip down to their underwear and wave huge missiles’.

The liveblog noted: ‘They have an extensive track record of getting naked on stage, but they’ve kept it classy for a Sunday afternoon. Phew.’

The performance was described as a ‘three-minute epic that isn’t sending us to sleep any time soon’… and it sounds like it’s truly going to be a fever dream.

What’s more, it’s apparently been said that the final run-through of Let 3’s song is going to feature fireworks in what sounds like an unforgettable show.

Over the weekend, TV presenter Rylan Clark headed over to Liverpool for Eurovision – but he didn’t have a smooth-sailing journey to say the least.

As rail disruptions impacted the Bank Holiday weekend, he tweeted: ‘All trains suspended at EUSTON YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS. This is how I perish.’

He later made friends with fellow travellers at the station, sharing: ‘I’ve made friends that are also stranded x.’

Mae Muller, the UK’s Eurovision 2023 act, was among those following Rylan on every step of his journey, as she commented: ‘I don’t think I have ever been as invested in anything as I am with Rylan’s journey to Liverpool.’

The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
