Agra ::: A nine-foot-long mugger crocodile created panic after it was spotted wandering in agricultural fields in Ujeer village at Bhogaon area in Mainpuri district on Thursday. The massive reptile was successfully rescued and later released in the Chambal river in Etawah by the forest department and Wildlife SOS.
The reptile was initially spotted in an agricultural field but was later seen making its way into the bushes. The panic-stricken villagers immediately alerted the forest department personnel who rushed to the spot. Wildlife SOS was also alerted.
In the joint rescue and release operation which lasted several hours, the crocodile was successfully rescued and later released in the Chambal river in Etawah.
Mahendra Singh, range forest officer, Bhogaon, said, “As soon as we received information about the crocodile being sighted in the village, we immediately sent a team to the location. It must have emerged from the Kali river near the village. We are thankful to the Wildlife SOS team for their expert assistance in conducting such sensitive rescue and release missions.”

AKTU to adopt gaushalas for producing compressed biogas
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University has requested the state government to help them adopt a couple of gaushalas so that they can use the waste to produce compressed biogas using advanced technology that can be used for multiple purposes. AKTU vice chancellor Prof Pradeep Kumar Mishra said the university is going to start the Centre of Excellence in wastewater management course. The Innovation Hub of the university is working for innovation and startups across the state.

Alert ticket checker spots runaway brothers at Kalyan station
Mumbai: A ticket checker at Kalyan station on August 18 found a 9-year-old boy alone and crying. Realising they both may be brothers, the TC, Sunil Kumar Yadav took them to the station master’s office. They did not even have any contact details. Efforts are underway to trace their family. Meanwhile, a total of eight cases of reuniting lost or runaway children have been registered with the Central Railway in August.

Locals oppose BMC’s decision to mark hawking zones in residential areas
Mumbai: Residents are up in arms against the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) decision to demarcate hawking zones in residential areas in the K (west) ward in Andheri (west). HT had on August 19 reported that the implementation of the BMC’s hawkers policy was stalled after corporators demanded their inclusion in the Town Vending Committee. A site in Seven Bungalows has, however, been earmarked as a hawking zone.

25-year-old man stabbed to death after his bike brushes against one
Mumbai: The Mumbai police crime branch on Friday arrested two members of a group that allegedly killed a 25-year-old man in Ghatkopar West following an argument that ensued after tthe deceased, Ganesh Shinde, a resident of Asalfa villageaccidentally brushed his scooter against one of the accused while parking the two-wheeler. The Ghatkopar police have registered a murder case against Manjit Singh, his brother Vinod Singh, their associates Vikas Pawar, Avinash Gaikwad and others.
