CTV meteorologist takes down body-shamer on Twitter: ‘Your words bring me zero shame’

A CTV meteorologist garnered plenty of praise on social media for her clapback at a body-shamer.

While Kelsey McEwen, the chief meteorologist for CTV’s Your Morning show, was on-air Tuesday discussing the extreme winter weather conditions set to sweep across parts of Canada, one viewer took to Twitter to comment on her appearance.

“Welcome back @KelseyMcEwen #weathergirl from @YourMorning how come none of your cohorts haven’t told you #pantielines #cameltoe #bubblebutt #redisnotyourfriend,” the person tweeted.

In response, McEwen wrote: “Listen, I own my body, camel toe & bubble butt included. Your words bring me zero shame. Your feelings about my body & outfit are a you problem, not a me problem.”

She added: “And red? Red is (fire emoji). The only thing that isn’t my friend here, is you.”

McEwen’s verbal takedown had many of her fans praising her for her sharp words.

“Good on you for sweeping this piece of dirt under the rug where he belongs,” one person responded.

CityNews reporter Irene Preklet tweeted: “Well when I was at the gym this morning I saw you on TV and I thought you looked amazing. You go girl and wear what you want!!!”

Others found the comments shameful, highlighting the sexism that’s still prevalent in the media industry.

“The fact that female reporters and journalists still have to endure this crap makes me sick. Keep on the amazing work that you do Kelsey,” one person commented.

This isn’t the first time McEwen has had to deal with body-shamers online.

While pregnant in 2017, she was targeted by a viewer who called her “skin tight” clothes “disgusting.”

She responded to the comment, telling the critic to “check your priorities.”

“Our bodies are no one’s business, pregnant or not. Self worth is not defined by our shape, number on the scale or size of clothing,” she added.
