With only a few rounds left in the chamber for Dodge Charger and Challenger production, the parts and performance division of Stellantis North America is applying its talents to this burly pair of muscle cars one last time. Set to be called the Mopar ’23 Edition, these whips will feature some styling tweaks sure to set bidder paddles ablaze at Barrett-Jackson thirty years from now.

Exclusive to the Mopar ’23 is a series of matte black graphics and a line of blue tracer stripes, both of which play decently against the Pitch Black clearcoat paint. That’s a good thing, since it is the only colour on tap for this edition. Brake calipers are also dipped in blue and sit behind a set of 20-inch aluminum wheels.
That carbon-fibre spoiler is apparently unique to the Mopar ’23, available only on this limited run. Keep that in mind when you’re looking at an allegedly stock R/T Scat Pack in the year 2055. Additionally, look for the personalized metal certificate of authenticity with a serialized vehicle build number, and insist on seeing the special rendering of the vehicle by the Mopar Design team.

Starting with an R/T Scat Pack Widebody means there is a 392 Hemi under the hood, a hairy-chested mill making 485 all-American horsepower. Challenger customers can opt for the six-speed Tremec manual transmission instead of an eight-speed automatic, but the Charger is auto only.
This being a Widebody, fender flares add 3.5 inches of width to the thing over 305-width Pirelli tires; and Bilstein-branded dampers are at each corner. Inside you will find trappings such as a heated flat-bottom steering wheel, suede headliner, heated/vented front seats, and a smattering of Scat Pack emblems.
Mopar has a history of offering these types of packages, one per year, going all the way back to 2010, not long after the modern-day Challenger first appeared. Examples include rigs like a Mopar ’14 Challenger; Mopar ’15 Charger; Mopar ’16 Rebel — well, you get the picture.
These special editions are being literally released at the eleventh hour, since Dodge has suggested its order books for these two hot rods are closing at the end of July. Canada will get 20 examples of each, and U.S. nets 200 units each, for an overall total of 440. The price of the Mopar ’23 package is $5,595 in Canada, with production set for September and deliveries planned for October. Charger and Challenger production will end for good in December.
