Damian Lillard has a “dream” scenario for the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA offseason, and according to a report, he could be taking the first steps toward making that dream a reality.

According to a report by The Athletic’s Sam Amick, Lillard’s “dream scenario” for the Blazers is to bring back Jerami Grant and sign free agent forward and four-time NBA champion Draymond Green.

Lillard appears to be recruiting Green to Portland, as he met with him on Tuesday in the city at a restaurant, according to Dwight Jaymes of Rip City Radio 620.

The Blazers have prioritized youth over the last few seasons, taking players like Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe in the NBA Draft.

Some wanted the team to package those early picks for another established veteran, but it appears the team has at least one eye on rebuilding.

Lillard has experienced a great deal of personal success with the Blazers, but he’s only made one career appearance in the Western Conference Finals, let alone the NBA finals.

With Green, there’s a real possibility that could change.

If Green ends up signing with the Blazers, his mere presence could have a significant impact on their defense. Players were apprehensive about initiating contact with him during the most recent playoffs, and that could bring a needed edge to the team.
