Despite rampant trade rumors, Damian Lillard reportedly wants to remain in Portland, and the Trail Blazers are “not entertaining” offers for their All-Star point guard.

However, after Portland took Scoot Henderson, a 19-year-old point guard, with the No. 3 overall pick of tonight’s NBA Draft, Twitter exploded with people thinking the selection might mean the end of Dame in the Pacific Northwest.

“Next step… Damian Lillard trade request,” said “The Scoop on Hoops” podcaster Cody Mallory.

“And now we wait for Damian Lillard’s request,” added fellow media member Billy Reinhardt.

“Scoot, Penny, and Sharpe are a great core to build around. Put in that request fam @Dame_Lillard,” chimed in one fan.

“You OBVIOUSLY trade Dame. They have a chance to put together an all-time rebuild here,” another fan added.

“I’m the biggest Damian Lillard fan there is, he’s the man who got me into basketball. With all that being said Portland needs to trade him. We need to start fresh with Scoot and Anfernee. Trade Nurk for literally anything and trade Dame for an absolute haul of picks while we can,” another Blazers fan argued.

Portland may not want to trade Lillard, but they had no choice but to pick Henderson. The 6-foot-2 playmaker was far and away their best option with the third pick after French unicorn Victor Wembanyama and Alabama forward Brandon Miller went off the board 1-2.

We’ll see if the Blazers intend to roster Lillard and Henderson this season, or if a trade is forthcoming.
