Former first round draft pick Damon Arnette was cut by the Las Vegas Raiders Monday, after a video surfaced in which he brandishes firearms and can be heard threatening to kill someone, TMZ reports.
The video of the cornerback, who went 19th overall in the 2020 NFL draft and played 13 games for the Raiders, was posted last week but only went viral this past weekend.
“[I’m] five minutes away,” Arnette says in the self-recorded clip, in which he holds guns up to his phone camera. “Pull up lame-ass n***a, I swear to god I will kill you, n***a. On everything I love, I will kill you, n***a. You talking crazy.”
Arnette was recently sued over an alleged hit-and-run on Oct. 14, 2020, according to TMZ. He’s accused of hitting another vehicle and injuring a woman. Arnette reportedly left the scene of the accident to attend a meeting at the team facility.
Another lawsuit accuses Arnette of spitting on and poking a valet worker in the chest at the Aria Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, according to NFL.com.
It’s been a difficult season for the Raiders, who recently released Henry Ruggs III after he was charged with driving under the influence resulting in death.
Ruggs faces up to 46 years in prison if convicted, following the deaths of a 23-year-old woman and her dog, after he crashed his Corvette into the woman’s SUV Tuesday.
