People who love the hit ABC-TV show “Dancing with the Stars” will have the chance to see their favorite competitors and professional dancers in the touring show “Dancing with the Stars — Dare to Be Different.”
The tour will make multiple stops in Southern California, including Sunday, March 13 at the Fred Kavli Theatre in Thousand Oaks, Tuesday, March 15 at Balboa Theatre in San Diego, Wednesday, March 16 at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside and Thursday, March 17 at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa.
Basketball star, rapper and last year’s celebrity winner Iman Schumpert, along with his partner, professional dancer Daniella Karagach will perform at all of the Southern California dates.
“I’ve never done an actual (non-basketball) tour with a live audience,” Schumpert said from a stop on the road. “It’s been a great experience, especially the meet-and-greet with the fans.”
Other performers include Season 29 winner Kaitlyn Bristowe and season 30 fan favorites Amanda Kloots and Jimmie Allen. Bristowe will perform in Thousand Oaks, San Diego and Riverside while Kloots will appear in Costa Mesa only.
The show includes all the dance styles seen on the show, along with new numbers that were created specifically for the live show. Dance styles include the cha-cha, salsa, tango, quickstep and foxtrot.
“Every show is different,” Karagach said in a phone interview. “You never really know how it’s going to go.”
