Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has no intention of entertaining an offer from Manchester United for Harry Kane this summer despite his precarious contract situation, according to reports.

The 29-year-old, who has enjoyed a stellar individual campaign, will only have one year left on his contract come the end of this season and has a host of suitors lining up to try and poach him.

Chief among them is Manchester United, with Erik ten Hag desperate to add a proven goalscorer to his side in the summer, while the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have also been linked.

Kane’s preference is believed to be to remain in the Premier League, with the England skipper keen to break Alan Shearer’s scoring record.

Tottenham have not given up hope of tying Kane down to a new contract – and are even prepared to risk losing him for nothing in 2024 – though any decision on his future will happen after Spurs have appointed a new manager.

United are believed to be readying an opening bid of around £80million for Kane in an attempt to test Spurs’ resolve, though that is unlikely to be enough.

In fact, the Daily Mail are reporting that there is very little chance of the striker swapping north London for Old Trafford this summer after Levy ‘vowed’ never to sell to a Manchester club again.

The Spurs chairman is said to have never forgiven himself for sanctioning the sale of Kyle Walker to Manchester City in 2017.

Although Tottenham got a big fee – around £50m – they struggled to replace the right-back and the position continues to be something of a problem even now, with the club forking out around £40m on Pedro Porro in the January window after a host of unsuccessful purchases.

Spurs had actually finished above City in Walker’s final season at the club, but Pep Guardiola’s side have won the title in four of the five campaigns since then with Walker playing an integral role.

Levy’s stance on not doing business with either City or United is now thought to be the main obstacle preventing the Red Devils from prising Kane away from Tottenham.

Kane became England’s outright leading goalscorer after netting against Italy during the recent international break and he has scored 21 times in 28 Premier League appearances this season.

Tottenham do not want to sell their most important player and are prepared to let talks over a new contract roll over into next season even though it means Kane will have entered the final year of his deal and would be able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January.
