James Harden wants out of Philadelphia, and the 76ers are willing to accommodate his wish, but not at a discount.
Sixers President of Basketball Ops Daryl Morey addressed the team’s plans for dealing with Harden’s trade request during an appearance on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly on Tuesday.
“If we don’t get either a very good player or something we can turn into a very good player, we are not going to do it,” he said, via Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

As of last week, Harden’s reported preference was to play for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2023-24.
“Harden’s stance has not changed,” said Sam Amick of The Athletic. “He still wants to leave Philadelphia. He’s still upset with how Morey handled his situation heading into possible free agency last month.”
The Sixers acquired Harden in the Ben Simmons trade with the Brooklyn Nets back in February 2022. The 10-time All-Star appeared in 79 regular season games with the team over one-plus seasons, averaging 21.0 points, 10.6 assists and 6.4 rebounds per appearance.
