The gun opener is a proven match-winner and his captaincy skills have received a lot of praise in the past. Notably, he was the one who led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to their maiden IPL title in 2016. The 36-year-old, however, made his captaincy debut for Delhi Capitals in 2013.

Warner was sacked as SRH captain mid-way through the IPL 2021 season. In his last few days at the SRH, the senior cricketer lost his place in the playing eleven as well. He moved to Delhi Capitals in 2022 and played under Pant.
Already in the twilight years of his career, Warner has a point to prove in this IPL. This IPL campaign can very well decide his international future as well and so the hype around him throughout the season will be immense.
With Axar Patel as his deputy, numerous talented players in the squad and a support staff including Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly, Warner will be aiming to end Delhi Capitals 15-year-long wait for the coveted IPL trophy.
