DC Shoes has just announced Jamaican-born skateboarder Lucien Clarke as its latest crew member.
Joining fellow team riders John Shanahan, Wes Kremer, Evan Smith, Josh Kalis, and many more, the shoemaker’s partnership with the London-based creative has been launched to reflect the brand’s commitment to the growing skateboarding community in the UK and Europe.
Revered for his fashion and streetwear influence, along with his campaigns for Palace, Venture Trucks, Reup Wheels, and Shake Junt, Clarke is perhaps best known for his close collaborations with Louis Vuitton’s Virgil Abloh.
In 2020, the two famously designed the first-ever pro skate shoe offered by a French fashion house, which spawned an ongoing creative partnership for the years before Abloh’s untimely passing. Since then, Clarke has continued his work with Louis Vuitton, most recently walking the Spring 22/23 Menswear show at Paris Fashion Week.
Speaking about the new partnership with Clarke, Michael Minter, Global Head of Marketing at DC Shoes, said: Lucien represents a compelling connection between skateboarding and fashion. He is a truly unique talent and we look forward to his creativity, both on and off-board, becoming a great asset for the Brand. His undeniable style comfortably links DC’s heritage to DC’s future. It’s just a great fit.”
In addition to being the face of Palace and Louis Vuitton’s foray into skateboarding, the multifaceted creative will also take on a creative director role for DC’s further expansion into Asia, where skateboarding is experiencing rapid adoption in a world where streetwear, luxury fashion, and skateboarding effortlessly coexist.
