DC vs GT, IPL 2023: 4 Bowlers Who Will Take Most Wickets In Today’s Match

Delhi, who will be playing their first home match of IPL 2023, would be hoping to get on the points sheet. The David Warner-led side lost their first match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 50 runs on Saturday. They were restricted to 143/9 following a batting collapse.

GT, on the other hand, kicked off their campaign with a convincing 5-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The Hardik Pandya-led side performed as a unit in first restricting CSK to 178/7 despite a 50-ball 92 from Ruturaj Gaikwad and then chasing the target with five wickets and four balls remaining.

As Delhi Capitals take on Gujarat Titans, let’s have a look at top four bowlers who can end up with most wickets in the match.

Axar Patel: The left-arm spinner is a threatening bowler with his ability to bowl consistently on the same line. In the first match against Gujarat he castled the stumps of a rampaging Kyle Mayer (73 off 38) to provide his team some reprieve.

The India international is expected to have a good outing at the Arun Jaitley Stadium (formerly known as Feroz Shah Kotla). The surface in Delhi usually stays slow and low. Also, the Delhi Capitals star has a decent record in Delhi.

He has played 10 IPL matches in the city and picked eight wickets at an economy of 5.80 and an average of 26.75. Overall, he has picked 102 wickets in 123 IPL matches.

Kuldeep Yadav: Delhi’s left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav will be the other spinner to watchout for during the match. The conditions will be perfect for him. He got the prized wicket of Deepak Hooda in the match against Lucknow.

The 28-year-old was the fifth-highest wicket-taker in the IPL 2022. He picked 21 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 19.95. He has played four IPL matches and picked just five wickets. Today might be his day to make it big at the ‘Quila Kotla’.

Alzarri Joseph: After two world-class spinners, let’s switch to a left-arm pacer who could come across as very threatening against Delhi. In his first IPL 2022 outing, the Gujarat Titans cricketer picked the prized wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was just 8 away from a hundred, and Ravindra Jadeja.

Delhi have quite a few southpaws in Warner, Rilee Rossouw and Axar Patel. Alzarri can also trouble Shaw with the short balls. Some mouth-watering matchups are on the cards. Keep an eye out for the West Indies pace sensation.

Rashid Khan: A T20 bowling list of top bowlers cannot be complete without Rashid Khan, the superstar T20 globetrotter. He bowled four overs for 26 runs and two wickets in the IPL 2023 opener against CSK. Big fishes Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes fell in his trap as rampaging CSK were derailed.

He would be up against his former SRH captain Warner and would aim to exploit the chink in his armour. In 93 IPL matches, the 24-year-old has picked 114 wickets at an average of 20.69 and a strike rate of 6.38. Under pressure Delhi would be on Rashid’s target on Tuesday.
