The 32-year-old left Manchester United at the end of last season after 12 years at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils bringing in Andre Onana from Inter Milan to replace him.
De Gea has since been linked with big moves elsewhere as he is available on a free transfer, but after a switch to Real Madrid failed to materialise, his hopes of a move to Bayern Munich are also dead.
Talks had been held between De Gea and the German giants, with reports suggesting that the Spaniard had agreed to move to Bavaria.
However, Bayern have stepped away from negotiations, with Sky Sport Germany reporting that they have decided on Maccabi Tel Aviv ‘keeper Peretz instead.
The 23-year-old has been first choice with his club for the last two seasons and has won one cap for Israel, but has done enough to catch the attention of Bayern.
Manuel Neuer is still set to be first choice in goal at Bayern when he recovers from a broken leg, but that is still some weeks away.
The Bundesliga champions also made a move to bring in Manchester City’s Stefan Ortega on loan, but the Premier League champs did not want to let him leave.
As for De Gea, he will continue to look for a new club, but there is no rush as he can join a new side after the transfer window shuts as he is a free agent.
