The writers of Deadpool 3 have hinted that the next film in the series will be as explosive, outrageous, funny and violent as the last – despite the franchise now being owned by Disney.
The Ryan Reynolds fronted X-Men spin-off series erupted onto the box office scene back in 2016 when the first film was released with an ‘R-Rating’ – the USA equivalent of an 18.
The rating surprised cinemagoers at the time as it would limit who would be able to watch the film – but the flick went on to be a commercial hit regardless and spawned an equally outrageous and bloody second chapter in 2018.
Since then fans had been eagerly waiting for a third instalment, but have been concerned that the content could be watered down due to Disney taking over original film studio 20th Century Fox.

Now in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the writers of Deadpool 3 have assured fans that the house of mouse is being supportive over their dreams to make another R-Rated film.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick explained: “It’s an absolute thrill to have the band back together, to have a new backdrop in the MCU with new characters, new villains, that kind of thing.
“You know, it’s never a marriage we necessarily saw coming — Fox and Disney, that was an external thing [separate] from our storytelling process. But we’re absolutely finding the serendipity and the gold in that situation, or we’re trying to.”
Rhett continued: “They’ve been very supportive with regard to that.
“Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe we’ll hear at some point, ‘Maybe not that joke.’
“But I think they’ve been incredibly supportive of what we’re doing, because obviously we were doing it separate from them for a long time, and I think they’ve seen the success and they’ve had their own even greater success.
“So hopefully it’ll be a marriage made in heaven. But we’ve definitely got their support, and that’s a great thing to feel.”
After Disney acquired Fox in 2017, some fans feared the Deadpool film series would be axed entirely or rebooted in a more family friendly way.

However, Marvel film boss Kevin Feige explained in January 2021 that the film series would be allowed to continue with it’s more adult theme – but added that it would be incorporated within the Marvel Cinematic Universe that includes blockbusters such as Thor, Avengers and Doctor Strange.
He said: “We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
