DeAndre Hopkins Suspended 6 Games for Violating NFL’s Performance Enhancing Drug Policy

DeAndre Hopkins will have to sit out six games for the Cardinals after he violated the NFL’s Performance Enhancing Drug policy, ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted on Monday.

League sources reportedly shared the news of the wide receiver’s six-game suspension with ESPN. The NFL confirmed the news shortly after Schefter’s report.

“Arizona is losing DeAndre Hopkins to a six-game suspension, it lost Christian Kirk to Jacksonville during free agency, and it adds more insight into the Cardinals’ draft-day trade for former Ravens’ WR Marquise Brown,” Schefter wrote on Twitter shortly after breaking the news.

As NBC Sports shares, Hopkins—who was the 27th overall pick of the 2013 draft—missed 7 games due to a hamstring injury and a knee injury last season, and earned 42 receptions for 572 yards and 8 touchdowns in 10 games. That marked the first season he missed more than one game.

After he was traded by the Texans to Arizona in 2020, his first season with the team resulted in a career-high 115 catches for 1,407 yards and 6 touchdowns.
