Deep Rock Galactic’s fourth season is here, expanding on the theme of the Rockpox Plague with the season title being Critical Corruption showing the progression of the infection on the planet, with the infection growing and mutating the wildlife on Hoxxes IV even further. This new season brings all kinds of new things with it, like an expansive new swarth of enemies corrupted by the infection, a new beer, and a new game to play while on the station.
While this season brings with it new content, the plague theme continuation still means that you will be decontaminating with cleansing pods, and you will still need to clear Contagion Spikes with Lithofoam to keep trying to fight the infection the best you can. The caves also have new enemies that add fresh variety to combat and add new stuff to keep you on your toes while you are completing your objectives.
New Enemies
There are two brand new enemy types and a few variations of new enemies infected by Rockpox in Season 4.
New Variants
- Glyphid Stingtail: A new enemy type that uses its tail to grab you and pull you towards it, so it can attack you once you’re close enough. This enemy is dangerous as it can pull you from your team, off a cliff, or launch you high up causing you to take damage from your fall. This enemy will warn you with its unique cry, so pay attention to avoid getting yanked into danger.
- Glyphid Septic Spreaders: A land-based enemy that shoots corrosive goop like artillery. This enemy covers the ground in toxic goo that makes maneuvering around dangerous. Focus them down before they poison the area you and your team are trying to hold out at.
Corrupted Variations
- Rockpox Naedocyte Breeder: A plagued variation of the regular Breeder counterpart, this enemy will drop plague-spreading worms instead of the normal babies it dispenses. It is very important to focus it down lest it spread its disease further causing you to be immobilized frequently.
- Rockpox Praetorian: Similar to the regular Praetorian but with Infected boils serving as weak points, it now leaves a Rockpox gas on death that can immobilize you if you let it fill up all the way.
- Rockpox Goo Bomber: Very similar to a normal Goo Bomber, the Rockpox variant has Rockpox disease in the goo that spreads, making it more dangerous as a result as it can spread the contagion very effectively.
On The Station
The station has also gotten some new things with the new season with randomness and chaos being a prevailing theme. You can now randomize your loadout with a button in the loadout selection screen, or drink the new Randoweisser beer to give yourself a random loadout for the next mission, along with a little bit of a buzz while you work.
There is also a Jettyboot arcade game you can play behind the bar if you need more recreational activities to irritate management by playing. This new game comes complete with high scores you can compete with your friends against and is a taste of the Rocket Boots that can now be found inside of cave crates sometimes.
New enemies are at the forefront of Season 4’s new content but, as always, there is also a new Seasonal Performance Pass to earn more cosmetics to customize your weapon and dwarves with as you complete missions during the season.
