A lot about traveling by air changed during the pandemic, and meal service was a big part of that. As airlines strived to limit touch points, we saw everything from elimination of meals to scaling back of drink options. Among the casualties of this time was, for some airlines, the kids meal.
But just as travel is back in many instances to pre-pandemic rates and much of travel is a lot like it used to be (for better or worse in many cases), Delta Air Lines has announced they will be bringing back meals for kids in April.
To reserve these meals, request them in your flight booking as a special meal option for long-haul international flights and most domestic routes for customers traveling in First Class beginning in early April. These recipes were created by a team of chefs and dieticians, in hopes of being both kid-friendly and also parent (and nutrition) approved.
Meal options include a breakfast of scrambled eggs, fruit and French toast with syrup, and lunch/dinners that include cheese tortellini with marinara sauce and parmesan, carrots and broccoli with ranch dressing, and fruit and graham cookie.
Here’s the fun part: You don’t even have to be a kid to order off the kids menu. If you log into your own flight itinerary and want to request a kids meal in advance, it’s fine for a kid of any age! As always, special meals need to be order at least 24 hours in advance, either in the app or online.
There’s plenty of times that kids meals are far more appealing than adult options, so this just may end up being a win all around.
