Where does Tyson Fury’s win leave the world heavyweight scene?
Deontay Wilder has dropped a fresh retirement hint after admitting he has achieved his boxing goals.
The ‘Bronze Bomber’ has previously hinted at hanging up his gloves after he was devastated in a late stoppage loss to trilogy rival Tyron Fury.
But he then claimed he is eyeing a return next year in a tune-up fight with a view to returning to the pinnacle of the division.
Wilder now appears to be considering his future after admitting he is at a crossroads with whether to “push forward” or end his career with his current legacy.
“It’s mixed feelings because ultimately I have accomplished all my goals in this sport. I told my daughter when she was one-year-old that I’d be a champion and I’d be able to support her beyond her belief,” he told Kevin Hart on an episode of Cold As Balls on the Laugh Out Loud Network.

“I’ve done that. There’s a lot of things that I’ve accomplished that I feel I have to prove to anyone because I’ve already proven [myself].
“Should I push forward? Should I give it a go one more time? Or should I just retire and focus on the other things that I already have, other things that I want to get into?”
Wilder reigned as heavyweight champion before his rivalry with Fury began back in 2018.
The first meeting between the pair ended in a controversial draw which prompted a rematch in 2020 which Fury won by an explosive stoppage.
He then secured a second successive stoppage victory over Wilder despite significant delay to their trilogy which finally took place in October.
During this defeat Wilder broke his hand and required surgery immediately after the fight leading to the uncertainty surrounding the future of his career.
His trainer Malik Scott admitted his charge was deeply affected by the defeat and revealed that the pair had been having 2am phone calls, with the American keen to salvage his future next year.

Recently despite his heavyweight career facing uncertainty, Wilder admitted he felt “great” and admitted that the best is yet to come from his boxing career.
Wilder told Telli Swift’s podcast : “I’m feeling great, I’m doing great. We didn’t get what we wanted [against Fury], but we still got something out of it. I think we got something even bigger out of it besides just a victory.
“I’m grateful for that. I’m blessed all the way around. With that being said, it’s no complaints at all, we just move forward.
“You come up to a certain point, as humans we feel we come up to a dead end or we fail, we think this is it for us. But when you’re travelling along your journey, nothing should be ‘this is it’.
“For me, this is not it, this is just the beginning. The best is yet to come from me. Although I have accomplished a lot of things, more than I could’ve imagined. I do still have goals in the sport, that’s why I still have love for it.”
