Destiny 2’s Cool Dubstep Gun (And Several Other Exotics) Are Getting An Upgrade Next Season

Destiny 2’s Cool Dubstep Gun (And Several Other Exotics) Are Getting An Upgrade Next Season

Next season of Destiny 2 will see several changes made to two dozen Exotic armor pieces, and this week, Bungie has focused on which Exotic weapons are getting fine-tuned in Season of the Deep. 17 weapons will be getting a range of tweaks, some substantial, some incremental, and these changes will affect both legacy and newer Exotics.

For example, Graviton Lance is getting an update that’ll make it less back-loaded. In terms of performance, it’ll be similar to Revision Zero’s Heavy Rounds two-burst mode, and damage output is being adjusted. The RPM is increasing from 257 to 300, and the first shot will do double the damage if it lands on the body or a critical spot. The second shot, which was where the bulk of Graviton Lance’s base damage was focused, will now do around 30% less damage on body and critical spots. The gun is worth obtaining, especially for its Exotic perk and catalyst, which is excellent for crowd control.

Another legacy weapon in the spotlight is Sweet Business, which is getting a fun factor upgrade. From Season 21, it’ll fire an explosive round on every 20th shot. Skyburner’s Oath is being buffed to apply more scorch stacks to a target, and The Manticore is being tweaked to be more rewarding, mobile, and sustainable.

The popular Jade Rabbit scout rifle will provide more rewards for precision hits in Season 21. Bungie says that next season will see the Exotic refund three shots instead of one when you quickly land three critical hits, and it’s adding buff text to show when Fate of All Fools’ increased body shot damage is active. Bad Juju should be easier to control from next season, as Bungie discovered that the Exotic was originally set up to use Auto Rifle recoil. Next season, it’ll be set to have pulse rifle recoil attributes.

There are two notable nerfs on the list, targeted at the machine gun Thunderlord and the grenade launcher Fighting Lion. The release of Thunderlord’s catalyst and the Season 20 machine gun buff made the Exotic even more powerful, but it also shipped with a bug that allowed lightning strikes at a higher frequency than intended against Divinity bubbles, which Bungie is fixing next season. As for Fighting Lion, a bug made it to do enhanced damage against red-bar enemies, so this issue is being addressed.

You can see the full list of changes below, and beyond the Exotic upgrades, there’ll also be new reticle elements to show off Exotic perks and valuable information next season. Devil’s Ruin and Salvation’s Grip will be getting charge meters, Quicksilver Storm will get a grenade count, The Manticore will get a perk progress meter, and several other Exotics will relay vital readouts in Season 21. Aggressive SMGs–and The Immortal in particular–will also receive a slight nerf next season.

Most importantly, Season of the Deep will also add an upgraded inspection screen for weapons, allowing you to rotate your guns and admire them in all their mechanical glory.

Season of the Deep Exotic Weapon Changes

Eyes of Tomorrow

  • Killing four targets with a missile volley will refund one ammo.

Graviton Lance

  • Increased RPM from 257 to 300 (reduced burst delay by 20%, now matches Revision Zero’s Hakke Heavy Rounds rate of fire).
  • Rebalanced damage per shot.
  • Increased first shot damage from:
  • Body: 9.5 to 19.
  • Crit: 15.7 to 31.4.
  • Decreased second shot damage from:
  • Body: 35.6 to 25.6.
  • Crit: 58.7 to 42.3.

Jade Rabbit

  • Added buff text to show when Fate of All Fools increased body shot damage is active.
  • Quickly hitting three critical hits now refunds three shots instead of one.

The Manticore

  • Increased the catalyst’s damage resistance from tier three to tier four.
  • Increased movement speed during hang time.
  • Activating the catalyst perk (through an airborne kill or sustained damage following an airborne kill) now partially refills the magazine.

Lumina’s cap

  • Increased Noble Rounds cap from five to six.

Heartshadow

  • Damage increase now activates quicker while invisible, after 0.25s instead of 1s.
  • Heartshadow now weakens upon dealing any damage while the damage increase is active.

Worldline Zero

  • The sprinting Heavy attack can now be chained into itself once.
  • Sword guard energy cost from each sprinting heavy attack reduced from 100% to 50%.
  • Decreased damage from an individual sprinting heavy attack by 25%, to compensate.

Sweet Business

  • Now fires explosive rounds every 20 shots (fewer shots while fully spun up).

Legend of Acrius

  • Increased total ammo from 12 to 16.
  • Increased maximum projectile distance from nine meters to 12 meters.

Tommy’s Matchbook

  • Catalyst updated
  • While overheated, sustained fire scorches your target.
  • Every five shots applies 14+7 (with the Embers of Ashes Fragment) scorch stacks.

No Time to Explain

  • Updated drone to work with anti-barrier (will break Barrier Champion shields and over penetrate combatant shields).
  • Updated drone to work with Feeding Frenzy (from the NTTE catalyst).
  • This also resolved an issue where the feedback for Feeding Frenzy would always play when the player spawned and then never again.

Skyburner’s Oath

  • Increased scorch stacks from three to five and five to 10 with the Embers of Ashes Fragment.

Salvation’s Grip

  • Reworked to have two firing modes.
  • Charged shot creates a pattern of Stasis crystals (where the number of crystals is no longer dependent on charge time).
  • Uncharged shot is a normal Grenade Launcher shot, which does more damage to Stasis crystals and frozen targets.
  • Added a new perk that reloads the magazine from reserves when you quickly shatter at least 3 crystals with the uncharged shot.

Bad Juju

  • Fixed an issue that was causing the weapon to recoil like an Auto Rifle, making it harder to control.
  • The recoil pattern will now be similar to other Pulse Rifles.

Fighting Lion

  • Fixed an issue that was causing this weapon to do more damage than intended to red-bar combatants.

Thunderlord

  • Fixed an issue resulting in hits against a Divinity bubble counting as two crits instead of one.

Winterbite

  • The impact damage has been removed and redistributed to the detonation damage.
  • The self-damage scaling has been tuned to account for the increased damage of the detonation.
