Shock jock Kyle Sandilands has many famous friends, but he might be in it with Karl Stefanovic after he accidentally revealed that he told him who will be taking over for Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair.
During Wednesday’s episode of his hit radio show, The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the broadcaster was interviewing Grimshaw ahead of her final episode set to air tomorrow.
The pair went on to discuss the rumours surrounding who will take over for Grimshaw when she steps down.
“Every person who has been speculated about is an exemplary person,” Grimshaw said.
The veteran journalist said she does know who is taking over and teased that viewers will “know very soon”.
Sandilands then revealed that Stefanovic had been asking him for advice on who should join him on Nine’s breakfast show, hinting that the rumours about Allison Langdon taking over for Grimshaw could be true.
“Let me just tell everyone it is Alli,” he said.
Sandilands then said Stefanovic didn’t tell him he couldn’t say anything.
Grimshaw refused to confirm anything.
Elsewhere in the show, Sandilands talked about the mass exit at Network 10’s The Project.
He speculated that everyone at The Project is being fired and they aren’t leaving on their own.
“Who are they feeling thinking they have all decided to leave at the same time, this is a mass firing,” he said.
“This is them, Channel 10, saying listen you can leave and say you’ve resigned or you can get fired. And everyone chooses the resign thing.”
Sandilands said he does believe that the network wanted to keep Carrie Bickmore.
He shut down theories by his co-host Brittany Hockley, who is filling in for Jackie O, that there could be a pay dispute.
ACA will air specials to farewell Grimshaw on Wednesday and Thursday night.
