Difficult to stay grounded: Suryakumar Yadav – Times of India

0
MUMBAI: Coming off three consecutive ducks in the ODI series against Australia, Suryakumar Yadav has rediscovered his form in the IPL with 486 runs in 13 games @40.50 and a mind-blowing strike rate of 186.92 which has made the Mumbaikar the top run-getter for MI this season.
“I did not change anything. I was only thinking (about) what I had done in the last two years which has helped me and worked for me. I knew I was batting well in the nets and everything was going well, and today or tomorrow that knock will be coming soon,” the flamboyant batsman said on the eve of Mumbai Indians’ last league game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Having experienced a bit of lows after flying high for the past three years, Suryakumar, now back in blazing form, has learnt to find the right balance to deal with fluctuations in fortunes. “It is very easy to say that you need to remain grounded and stay balanced but implementing it in real life is a little more difficult. If you manage to find that balance, it will reflect in your game,” he said.
For someone who has a dazzling array of strokes with a special ability to pierce all areas of the ground, Suryakumar says he has a methodical approach to his strokeplay.
“Whatever shots I play, I have already practiced them, either in the nets or in my mind. I always try to play with the field. I don’t hit huge sixes but I try to play less risk, high reward shots,” he said.
