From Paris with La Fantaisie, to Cape Town’s only mountain luxury retreat, here’s a small sampling of some of the most exciting hotel openings in 2023.

Future Found Sanctuary by Time + Tide, Cape Town, South Africa

Atop Cape Town’s Table Mountain sits Future Found Sanctuary by Time + Tide, a secluded property amidst one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. Future Found Sanctuary is Cape Town’s only mountain luxury retreat, situated on the doorstep of the Constantia winelands and a short drive from Kirstenbosch Gardens, Llandudno Beach and Chapman’s Peak Drive.

The property’s two private villas, Maison Noir and Ville Verte, are each filled with sophisticated elemental design, curated furniture, a respected collection of local art and panoramic views. This wellness haven features a sensorium spa, Technogym fitness center, yoga studio, sound healing studio, a natural cold immersion pool, heated swimming pools and an expansive array of on-site services from massage to Tai Chi. Outdoor activities are offered in the nearby nature range, from hikes straight off the property to waterfalls in Table Mountain National Park, to foraging for seaweed at Cape Point and a private tour of Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens with Future Found’s horticulturist.

Hotel La Palma, Capri, Italy

In line with Oetker Collection’s mission to create meaningful connections in endearing places, the brand’s first Italian property is set to bring to life the island’s iconic dolce vita lifestyle in Spring 2023. Hotel La Palma was conceived as a unique, elegant Mediterranean retreat on the fabled Italian island for the modern traveler. The original hotel on Capri will once more become the chicest address on the island for people who want to see and be seen. During its renovation, the room count of the hotel is being drastically decreased, from 80 to 50 rooms – including 18 suites – each complete with its own private balcony or terrace.

The property’s interiors are being transformed by Francis Sultana, a true maestro in the world of high-end interior design. In true Italian fashion, Hotel La Palma will also be a gourmand’s delight, with Gennaro’s restaurant, bar, and terrace, under the culinary direction of Chef Gennaro Esposito. Esposito is a true name in the region, having run his own two-Michelin Star restaurant, Torre del Saracino, for the last 23 years. A simple, stylish step back in time to the Capri of the 1950s, Gennaro’s will embrace the timeless romance of the island, serving unpretentious, authentic Italian cuisine. A short drive to Capri’s southern coast, guests will discover Hotel La Palma’s elegant, yet buzzing La Palma Beach Club in the Marina Piccola, home to the island’s most famous beaches and restaurants.

La Fantaisie, Paris, France

La Fantaisie will be renowned Swedish designer, Martin Brudnizki’s first entry into the Parisian hotel scene. It’s fantastical design centers around a spectacular courtyard garden that pays homage to the hotel’s location on Rue Cadet, named after brothers – and master gardeners – Jacques and Jean Cadet who supplied the court with fruit and vegetables in the 16th century. Drawing on nature as the chief inspiration, the color palette – consisting of soft greens, warm yellows, and coral touches – evokes the natural world, creating a soothing and comfortable environment for all that enter. Guests are transported into a dreamlike world thanks to the use of richly upholstered seats, lavish headboards and ornate walls and ceilings covered with floral wallpaper.

La Fantaisie will be under the culinary direction of the remarkable Dominique Crenn – a creative French visionaire, and for whom this will be her homecoming, having spent her career in the U.S. since the 1980s. Crenn is renowned for having transformed Californian gastronomy to the point of becoming the first – and only – female chef to be awarded three Michelin stars in the States. Her vision leaves no room for compromise, centered wholly around local and sustainable products, and her cuisine at La Fantaisie will adopt a zero plastic and zero waste philosophy. La Fantaisie will open its doors on Rue Cadet in the bustling Faubourg-Montmartre neighborhood, in the heart of the capital’s 9th arrondissement.
