Disneyland doubles number of Sweethearts, Villains and Star Wars after-hours parties

Disneyland will double the number of limited-time, after-hours events in 2022 as late night parties tied to Valentine’s Day, Disney Villains and Star Wars return to the Anaheim theme park after an extended coronavirus closure disrupted the schedule in 2020 and 2021.

Sweethearts’ Nite will run Feb. 1, 3, 8, 10 and 14 at Disneyland. Villains Nite will take place March 8 and 10 at Disney California Adventure. Star Wars Nite will run May 3, 4 and 27 at Disneyland.

Tickets go on sale Thursday, Dec. 9 for the Sweethearts events and Jan. 11 for the Villains and Star Wars events.

Disneyland will increase the number of after-hours party nights from five in 2020 to 10 in 2022. For 2022, Disneyland doubled the number of Villains Nites, more than doubled the number of Sweethearts dates and tripled the number of Star Wars Nites.

So far, Disneyland has not brought back ’80s Nite and Pixar Nite from 2020. Villains Nite moves from April in 2020 to March in 2022 — taking over the slot once occupied by Pixar Nite. Star Wars Nite moves from October in 2020 to dates in and around May the Fourth — the unofficial commemoration day of the space opera saga.

The Disneyland After Dark separate admission events offer special nighttime entertainment, character meet-and-greet opportunities and reduced wait times for the limited capacity after-hours parties.

Partygoers can mix-in with daily visitors three hours before the event — which lasts an additional four hours. Sweethearts’ Nite and Villains Nite mix-in starts at 5 p.m. while Star Wars Nite mix-in begins at 6 p.m.

Sweetheart Nites will feature a Valentines-themed fireworks and projection show, photo ops with Disney character couples, jazz music on the Mark Twain Riverboat, a DJ dance party and a Royal Ball.

Villains Nites will include a cabaret-style song-and-dance show called “The Cauldron,” Ursula’s Seaside Sing-a-long, an Underworld DJ dance party in the Hollywood Land studio back lot and photo ops with Disney villains and their henchmen.

Star Wars Nites will feature a fireworks show themed to a galaxy far, far away, the March of the First Order with Captain Phasma and her elite stormtroopers, photo ops with Star Wars characters and the Galactic DJ dance party.
