A coaching change happened in the NBA on Saturday.
The Pheonix Suns dismissed head coach Monty Williams after they lost to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals in six games. They had a lot of promise heading into the playoffs but they ultimately fell short yet again.
Doc Rivers, who coaches the Philadelphia 76ers, saw the news and gave a subtle reaction to it.
“Don’t win Coach of the Year,” Rivers said.

This is a good reaction because a lot of coaches across all sports get fired after they win Coach of the Year. It’s the cycle of coaching after all.
Williams was the head coach of the Suns for the last four seasons and led them to the playoffs in the last three seasons. He also took them to the NBA Finals during the 2020-21 season before they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games.
The Suns will now look for a new coach for next season and beyond.
