New Delhi: The centre government invites doctors for meet after resident doctor’s protest intensified demanding early solution in NEET PG Counselling crises. According to the media reports, the Health Minister Dr Manshukh Mandviya has invited a 12 member delegation for a meeting being chaired by the Union Health Minister. At the time of news report, the meeting was underway and outcomes were awaited from both doctors and government sources.

Earlier in the day, Resident Doctors Association of Hindu Rao Hospital announced the shutdown of emergency services. The decision was taken in support of protesting resident doctors of Delhi hospitals. FAIMA, a Resident Doctors’ agency has also announced a complete withdrawal of the healthcare services across country from December 29.

In view of the protests, a heavy police force was deployed at the Safdarjung Hospital. According to the UNI, agitating doctors were strictly instructed to not leave the premise.

On Monday, protesting resident doctors marching to the Supreme Court were detained and taken to Sarojini Nagar police station. The protesting doctors led by Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) are agitating over the delay in NEET PG Counselling and demanding an early solution.

Resident doctors majority of them from Safdarjung Hospital and Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi decided to conduct the march toward the Supreme Court. Unhappy that their demands that haven’t been heard, the protesting doctors marched from Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) to Supreme Court of India.

Approximately, 4,000 of its members ended their sit-in at the Sarojini Nagar police station around midnight on Monday to adhere to the COVID night curfew, FORDA said in its statement.

After the detainment of the protesting doctors’ several political leaders and Doctors’ fedrations have come up in their support. Former Congress President and leader Rahul Gandhi while targetting the centre government tweeted, “Flowers showering was the PR of show, in reality injustice is being showered. I stand with #CovidWarriors against the atrocities of the Central Government”.

Some videos showcasing the forcefully handing of the protesting doctors by the Delhi Police, sparked a dissatisfaction among the Resident Doctors and this demanded an apology from the Delhi Police over cops’ stern action during their Monday’s Supreme Court march.

Earlier, Fedration of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) critisized the action taken by the Delhi Police personnel on the protesting doctors in New Delhi. In its tweet, the association said, “FAIMA Condemns the abuse of power by @DelhiPolice on #CovidWarriors Protesting peacefully for their rights! We Calls for Complete Withdrawal from all Healthcare services across the country from Dec 29, 2021”.

According to a First Post report, the resident doctors are on strike for last couple of days and this has disrupted the medical services across the country. On 6 December, a FORDA delegation met Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Which resutled in assurance from the health minister for an early hearing of the NEET-PG Counselling in the Supreme Court.

The Indian Medical Association has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve the NEET PG counselling crisis that is expected to pave a way forward to an urgen recruitment of new doctors. NEET PG Counselling is on hold for over a year because of the case being heard in the apex court.
