Doja Cat is embracing the sheer-dress trend with her whole chest

The sheer-busted empire-waist gown Doja Cat wore to the Time 100 Gala on April 26 is giving me sexed-up modern Regency vibes, and I have to tell you, I am obsessed. I thought the fashion world was reaching the end of creative ways to incorporate sheer into red-carpet gowns, but I am delighted to have been proven wrong.

Doja’s sheer lavender skirt, adorned with a spiral of ladylike bias ruffle with a visible black bikini bottoms underneath, fall from just below her bosom, falloing from a sheer black panel at the bust. The empire silhouette and bright red opera gloves are giving Jane Austen, but the visible nipple covers and sky-high platform pumps are all Doja. The “Woman” singer didn’t hold back in terms of glam, accessorizing with a diamond choker and dazzling diamond chandelier earrings. For makeup, the pop superstar went extremely on-trend with over-lined lips and a serious smoky eye.

According to Doja Cat’s stylist, Brett Alan Nelson, on Instagram, the singer’s dress is by Maison Valentino and the jewels are from Messika Jewelry. Nelson also shouted out Doja’s hair and makeup artists in his post, JStayReady and Ernesto Casillas, respectively.

Doja was one of the night’s 100 honorees, having been named one of Time’s most influential people of 2023. In his write-up of the singer, rapper, and artist, Baz Luhrmann praised her as one of the few artists he’s connected with on a “deeper level.” Said the director, who worked with Doja on Elvis, “She can’t be boxed in. She’s a rapper, a singer, a performance artist—she’s the canvas on which she expresses a character or an idea. There’s no ‘brand’ to Doja Cat. You never know what she’s going to do next, and that’s exciting.”
