Having fun with our food used to be frowned upon, but now it’s being downright encouraged as Dominique Ansel introduces an incredible new feature at his newest spot.
The celebrity pastry chef has launched the world’s first-ever fully automated cookie shot robot, known as a Cookie Shot Smart Kiosk, and it can be found at Dominique Ansel Las Vegas inside Caesars Palace.
Las Vegas is known for its excess, and that includes what appeals to those with a sweet tooth. The new Cookie Shot Smart Kiosk works a lot like the other vending machines we may be familiar with, in that it contains an inventory of handmade cookie shots. The vending machine fills each shot with chilled Madagascan vanilla milk, and can serve as many as 75 cookie shots per hour.
This kiosk will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so no matter what time we need a cookie shot, it’ll be there for us, and already has built in updates for future menu options and customization.
When deciding to launch this project, Ansel knew Las Vegas was going to be the ideal location. “For each of our shops around the world, we always make sure to create a menu and an experience that’s unique just for the city – for Las Vegas, we created an entire menu inspired by lucky symbols from around the world, a nod to our new home at Caesars Palace,” said Chef Dominique Ansel in an interview. “We also thought it’d be the perfect place to create an interactive way to bring the cookie shot to our guests – with our first-ever Cookie Shot Vending Machine,” said Ansel.
This project has been a long time coming. “We had seen some of the innovative work that the RoboChef team has created, and thought it would be a lot of fun to collaborate together to serve our Cookie Shots – still one of our most popular pastries at our New York City Bakery since it launched in 2013 – in a totally new way,” said Ansel. “The Cookie Shot Vending Machine has been in the works for 2 years, and we’ve been working closely with the RoboChef and Caesars team to bring it all to life – I’m excited to see it serving our guests a fresh-baked Cookie Shot, filled-to-order with homemade Madagascan vanilla milk – round the clock 24 hours a day,” said Ansel.
The best thing about the kiosk is that it’ll be very easy to use, which is exactly what we want when a middle-of-the-night sweet craving hits. “It’s a pretty seamless interaction – you’ll first scan a QR code and select how many cookie shots you’d like, check out, and watch as the robot selects your cookie shot and fills it up with cold-infused vanilla milk. There’s a small door that then opens, so you can pick up your cookie shot, take a sip of the milk, then eat the cookie,” said Ansel.
As for what is coming next…that appears to remain to be seen. “Our Cookie Shot Vending Machine is the first and only one of its kind anywhere in the world, and we’re excited for it to launch at Caesars Palace. Now it makes me wonder what other kinds of robots and pastries we can create!” said Ansel.
